Rusting powder

For the next issue of Patchwork Professional I experimented with Rusting Powder. I had a ball making a series of small quilts featuring a key - this is one of them. I made a drawing of an antique key and consequently made a template out of it which I used to add acrylic wax on a piece of cotton. I carefully dusted some rusting powder on top of this and sprayed a light mist of vinegar. The flowers are printed and sewn from the back with whipstitch.

I never promised you a rosegarden

This small piece is only 20 x 20 cm. It was my entry for the contest 'The color red' and made it into the exhibition in Osnabrück - it ended as 6th from 52. I embellished a background of red ramie and silk chiffon, incorporating small rosebuds underneath. The I hand-embroidered the whole piece with french knots and fly stitch. it is backed with paper.
